About Phil

My name is Philip Corliss. I'm a software and systems engineer born and raised in Seattle. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a specialty in Information Systems from the University of Washington. Afterwards I worked for several small web technology companies in the Seattle area focusing mainly on backend systems. I've worked with large (150 TB) custom built storage arrays; managed big databases with lots of heads and lots of space; pushed lots (>300Mbps) of web traffic; built systems to monitor Twitter and Google trends; parsed plenty of logs with perl and parsed even more logs with Hadoop (MapReduce) in the cloud (EC2); developed in Perl, Java and Ruby; and dabbled in almost every piece of technology or language I've come across.
